High intensity class II laser measures from contactlfss. In wood and metal working it can be used to accurately measure the speed of a lathe or milling machine. Can be used for HVAC applications in measuring fan speed.

Highly accurate, digital laser photo tachometer. To take the measurement, apply a reflective mark included in package onto the target object, aim the laser beam at the mark, the RPM displays on the LCD screen. Powered by 4 x AA Battery. After following the simple instructions and applying a small piece of reflective tape included to the spindle, I was able to quickly measure spindle speeds. My step-pulley tachometef driven by a VFD offered no rpm data.

I didn’t realize how fast I was running and ruining cutting tools, but with this simple device I am able to accurately dial in spindle speeds and get more tool life out of HSS end mills and better surface finish on parts.

Amazon’s price was much less expensive than anything I could purchase locally.

Contactless digital tachometer using 3 digit display and measures upto rev/sec

I took it contactlwss of the package and the window for the read-out fell out. I pointed it at a roll tachometre masking tape sitting on my bench and it said it was spinning RPM. I pointed at other non-spinning things and got a wide variety of RPMs. I pointed it at my CNC machine’s spindlewhich already has a piece of reflective tape on it, and I could not get a consistent RPM read-out.

It looks like a crescent moon. It looks to be made by a different company. Hopefully it’s a much better unit. I realize these are low-end tachs, but they shouldn’t fall apart when you turn it over to put the batteries in.

I returned this unit without any hassle as the laser dot was cut off at the upper side of the round laser dot by percent. The readings were variable at first but seemed to settle down to agree with another tachometer I had. I feel the unit, especially for the price, would be worth it had the laser dot not cotnactless cut off.

Design of a Contactless tachometer

It looked like the portion where the laser dot is generated within the unit had shifted in mfg. If I was going to order another laser tachometer I would probably order this one again cotactless I think this was a one off situation. You have to give it a moment for the contadtless to settle down, but you’ll get an accurate speed when you do.

The reflective strips are pretty much worthless over Contact, ess not enough stick to overcome the centrifugal force. I used it to confirm the speed of a three phase blower fan in a transmitter after reinstalling it after having the bearings replaced to make sure I had all three phases wired in the right order.

It’s not a tool I’ll use every month, but for the price it’s worth it for how much I’ll use it.

I have used this a few times to calibrate a speed controller for a motor–I needed specific RPM, not too many, not too slow, and I was able to use this to get a very good reading and then adjust the controller. This requires that you have some little reflective areathey provide you with tcahometer little reflective tape–and you put a small piece on the whatever.

The tachometer checks the RPM by sensing that reflection when it goes by. If you had something with lights, or lots of reflective surfaces, taxhometer could be very misleading, or if you had a chrome device motor, pulley, whatever.

It probably wouldn’t work. However, for most situations, as long as the little contwctless tape is the one and only thing–it works like a champ. My first attempt to use it was on a weed eater–I was just curious and wanted to try it.

I found though that it would not work in the sunlight it apparently couldn’t see the reflection. So keep that in mind when you are using. I hope this helpsit worksand beyond that–I have explained how and some of the tacnometer I noticed. There is not much to say after that. For the price, its a steal because lab grade or highly accurate tachometers are VERY expensive. This is all you need for most home or light duty industrial applications.

Super cheap, but great value! I needed a photo tach to determine gear ratios in an old sealed transmission, this thing worked perfect. It has a simple red laser that reflects nicely off the included tape. Included a case and probably ‘ of reflective tape that had a nice adhesive on it. I’m not sure of the accuracy tolerances, and the values contactlesx fluctuate a bit, but that may have been the contaactless running tachometr transmission.

It was easy enough to figure an average. I’ve used better photo tachs in the past, and they read similarly, so this one seemed fine, and the ratios I measured all made sense.

Technical Details

I bought this tachometer to set the high speed adjusting screw on my chainsaw carburetor. I had some trouble finding a way to attach the reflective tape that is target for the tach. The logical place seemed to be on the sprocket cover, with the chain off, but the reflective tape wouldn’t stick at the required rpms because the metal cover was too smooth.

The solution I came up with was to make a template out of a black piece of cardboard and slide it over the sprocket a picture is attached. The reflective tape stuck well to the cardboard and I was able to get my rpms and my carb set. The tach is a good value for the money.

Do not have a speed indicator on my older lather. I thought I was turning around RPM. I was only turning around contcatless This device allowed me to place RPMs on my controls vontactless know exactly how fast I am turning. Then checked the table saw.

I used frequently in the shop to check speed of equipment. See all reviews. Pages with related products. See and discover other items:
